Wild things Next Door: the dangers of these animals

Across the country, there is a lion in the room, the monkey in the high seat, and baby bears in the backyard. They’re cute baby, but deadly as adults.

“This strong, some of the strongest animal in the world and there’s no reason they should be in our homes or across the street,” Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO of the Humane Society, told ABC News. “There is no reason for every citizen to have a bear or lion or chimpanzees or anaconda green in their homes.”

Even before the flight by animals in Zanesville, Ohio, animals conserve put the issue in the spotlight again, animal rights groups say many exotic pets in the home and the Zoo without permission has led to more than 60 human deaths in more than two decades.

In fact, the Humane Society of the United States say there are likely more Tigers that live in and around American homes than there are in the wild.

“There is no legislation to prohibit people from having Tigers as pets,” Pacelle said. “…Someone got them as a cute, cuddly kittens, which you can hold in your hand but they grew to 400 pounds and they get off Buffalo. “
